Verbs are words that describe actions, states and occurrences. For example, in the sentence, “The rabbit jumped over the hole”, jumped is the verb.
Finding the verbs in sentences
This section will give you some examples on how to find verbs in sentences. After that, you’ll get to try to find some verbs yourself. Here is the first example sentence:
The cat chased the mouse.
In this sentence, “chased” is the verb, because it describes an action (ie. the cat chasing the mouse.)
Bob is eating his lunch.
In this sentence, “ate” is the verb, because it describes what Bob is doing to his lunch (ie. eating it.)
